The 7-Day Mighty Mood Boost Plan

To be honest, I am a tired and foggy mess some days. Creating a business from the ground up while also raising a child has proven to be taxing on my health and livelihood. Finding a positive boost to my overall health is a great find in my book.
Prior to finding my go-to Mighty Self products, I was often running on autopilot (or at least it felt that way) and honestly, I was consuming far too much cannabis smoke. I was drained often and thought the bowl of pot would maybe lift me, yet, I was groggier than before.
At some point, while at the beginning stages of building my own business, I lost both my morning and night routines which I find to be a major contribution to my fogginess. I was overwhelmed with work and parenting, and I found myself with heightened irritability, brain fog, and a lack of focus. My business and family were totally taking a hit from this because I was no longer prioritizing my health.
I knew I needed a break from cannabis smoke. I also knew I needed something to give me that boost in energy and mood. For some time now I have been diving into what into the world of biohacking and what clever and simple hacks I could use in my life to give me that desired energy boost and clarity. So when Mighty Self approached me asking to give their nutraceuticals a good go, I thought… maybe this is that boost.
What is Biohacking?
Biohacking is exactly what it sounds like, implementing changes in your lifestyle and diet that essentially “hack” your biology into working more effectively. What intrigues me about Mighty Health, besides the friendly co-founders and their unrelenting passion for making life feel better, are the ingredients they chose to formulate with. Which I breakdown below.
What is inside Mighty Health capsules?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. With less than a decade’s worth of research, we are still scratching the surface of the potential of CBD’s role in the medical and wellness worlds. CBD has been shown to have anti-anxiety effects which promote a feeling of relaxation, as well as helping to maintain a balanced nervous system.
Theobromine is a bitter alkaloid found in the cacao plant. Theobromine can be considered a stimulant and has even been compared to having similar effects of caffeine, like boosted cognitive function and supported energy production. A food source high in theobromine is dark chocolate.
L-Theanine is an amino acid found in few sources like tea leaves and mushrooms. Supplementation of L-theanine has been shown to create calming, focusing effects, and can be great to help ease simple nervous tension.
To note here, the CBD in the BALANCE is hemp-derived CBD, while the CBD found in the FOCUS is cannabis-derived CBD. Both sources can be medicinally beneficial. The only difference is that one is available nationwide (BALANCE) while the other is mixed with THC and is only available in California (FOCUS). I personally love that they offer both products, so even prohibition states get to benefit from these adaptogens and cannabinoids.
Additional FOCUS ingredients
Piracetam is a nootropic chemical designed to enhance cognitive abilities and has been shown to increase blood flow to the brain while also helping to improve motor planning, memory, and cognitive organization.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a phytocannabinoid that is a neuroprotector that also promotes healthy brain function. THC has also been shown to boost energy production and supports proper immune function.
B-Complex is the combination of vitamins B6, B9, and B12. All promote a healthy nervous response while also promoting mental and physical energy production.
Additional BALANCE ingredients
Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb with calming, sedative effects. Ashwagandha has also been shown to boost immune function, leaving you a calm, strong, and stress-free individual.
Curcumin is the main bioactive ingredient found in turmeric. This extract is a definite immune-boosting compound with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin, for me, is a kitchen and medicine cabinet staple.
Peperine is the famous alkaloid of black pepper. This bioactive ingredient boosts the absorption and effects of curcumin, while also promoting a healthy inflammatory response and boosted cognitive response.
Phenylethylamine HCL (maybe my favorite so far) boosts mood and supports focus and clarity! PEA is associated with states of heightened arousal, and euphoria, as well as increased attention and concentration. Reminds me of another favorite of mine- THC!
The 7-Day Mood Boosting Plan
Taking a supplement alone will not change your life. At least that’s the case for me. I wanted to use my Mighty nutraceuticals to help boost my overall day, but I knew I needed to make some other changes alongside it. Here’s what I ended up doing:
For seven days I eliminated added sugars, alcohol, and cannabis smoke. I then committed to morning meditation for five minutes and a set night routine: an hour-long winding down that included minimized screen time, mindfulness practice (I chose coloring and board games) each night with the family. I also kept a healthier diet. One that includes way more water than usual (around 40 fluid ounces), lots of whole foods compared to processed, such as leafy greens, vegetables, and legumes.
This all seems like simple preliminary steps, yeah? Well, so I thought. Reducing these extra substances allow me to better feel the effects of the Mighty products.
The capsules, for me, symbolize a new sense of structure and commitment.
Here’s the breakdown of the Mighty capsules
2 BALANCE capsules; one at 7:30 am with a Bulletproof-styled coffee, and the other at 2 pm
2 FOCUS capsules; one at 10 am with light breakfast and another between 8 and 9 pm
Some main check-in points
Day 1- I actually didn’t stop smoking cannabis this day. However, it was this first night of Mighty supplementation that it dawned on me how I want to actually feel this product (each serving of FOCUS is 1mg THC). But with an average of consuming 30 mg THC per day, feeling the effects of this product just didn’t seem feasible.
I think there can be something said about cannabis detoxes, especially when it comes to smoke inhalation and high THC dosages. So, at Day One I decided to quit smoking my cannabis for the remaining seven days.
Day 3 - I could feel the lift of the FOCUS! I really honed in on my ability to (start) meditation sessions in the morning. I did not find it to be as great of a struggle to do this by day three.
Meditation is incredibly interesting, as it’s a discipline in doing nothing. I find the “doing nothing” to be so counteractive to modern society. Once I had that ah-ha moment that meditation is to let go and be uncomfortable in doing nothing was exactly what it was supposed to be, I got better at it. I guess what is difficult for me is letting go. Also, CBD is definitely helping with this process.
Day 5 - by day five I felt like a whole new gal. The sugar cravings were gone, I was sleeping better, and I was looking forward to meditation in the mornings. My nights were calming and I didn’t feel that terrible guilt I usually feel because my day time was actually spent more efficiently. Guilt-less nights are a rarity. At this point, I started taking my capsules
Day 7- I’m pretty sure I’m keeping this routine up. I switched from two FOCUS per day down to one per day and kept at two BALANCE per day. These number combos seem like my sweet spot. The information on their site does suggest figuring out your own M.E.D, or minimal effective dose, by starting with one per day and taking it from there.
My Overall Experience
Overall I feel sticking to Mighty for 7 days helped me create a greater structure. The best part was that I could actually FEEL the effects. I don’t think this was a placebo type deal.
I also wanted to give the bioactive ingredients in Mighty a real fighting chance, since when I started supplementing with this product, I felt my health and stress levels were together in a not-so-wonderful place. By reducing and minimizing the toxins I was in the habit of ingesting near daily, whether smoke, sugar, or alcohol, I can tell these Mighty capsules actually do what they say they do. Yes, I feel the natural side effects of reducing inflammatory foods and substances alone does have an enormous effect, but I also feel like my nervous systems and my endocannabinoid system are being more nourished than they would be without Mighty. Who really knows, but I do feel a significant difference than just one week prior.
Another note is I ended up doing this 7-day Mighty challenge twice now. I feel the frequency will kick up and this kind of diet and lifestyle will become my new normal. I will admit it got difficult around Easter to not eat sugar, but I mighty’d through it and came out stronger!
